I Admire Malala Yousafzai because...
Malala Yousafzai is an educational activist in Pakistan. She attended a school that her father founded. After the Taliban attacked girls' schools in Swat Pakistan Malala gave a speech that was titled "How dare the Taliban take away my basic right to education?". Afterwards Malala started blogging about life under the Taliban's threats on BBC. She hid her identity so the Taliban couldn't find her and cause her harm. She used the name Gul Makia, but she was revealed later on. She also continued to speak out about her right and woman's rights to an education. That same year she won Pakistan's National Youth Peace Prize.
When Malala was 14, she and her family learned that the Taliban had made a death threat against her. Although Malala was worried for her father, an anti-Taliban activist, they thought that the fundamentalist group would not actually hurt a child. They were wrong. On October 9, 2012 a man got on her bus, on the way home, he asked " Who is Malala Yousafzai?" her friends glances at her gave her away. The man fired with a gun at her, hitting the left side of her head.
I admire Malala Yousafzai because she stood up for what she believed in. She was brave enough to stand up to the Taliban. A terrorist group that could kill her in a second. Even when a death threat had been made on her life she still fought against the Taliban with words. She had to spend a lot of time in recovery and even after she still didn't waver from her beliefs. That is why I admire Malala Yousafzai.
